How to become an Au Pair

COOLAGENT in cooperation with Au Pair in America will provide you with the best possible support, from the day you apply until the day you return from what we hope will be the best year of your life.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you to be an Au Pair! COOLAGENT in cooperation with Au Pair in America is commited to finding great Au Pairs to place in great host families.

To ensure you have an exciting and successful year abroad as an Au Pair, we require the following criteria for you to apply:
  • Be between 18-26 years old
  • Have childcare experience
  • Have conversational English skills
  • Have completed your secondary education
  • Be flexible, mature, independent and positive
  • Have a driver's license by the time you leave
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be in good health

STEP BY STEP

If you have met the qualifications, it's easy to become an Au Pair in America. We're with you from start to finish...

  1. Pre-apply!
    It's easy to pre-apply. You can do it by email to london@coolagent.net or you can simply call us at 020 7101 2933 and we'll help you get started.
  2. Interview & Information Day
    Here you'll learn more about our program, meet former Au Pairs and have a personal interview. For dates of Interview and Information Day pls click here
  3. Complete application If you have regular Internet access and would like to apply online  then start your application. Otherwise, complete a paper application. Please ask your local agent to e-mail you the full information and application materials.  
  4. Host Family Matching
    After receiving your application and checking your references, we'll begin to find your host family. When we've found a suitable match, the family will call to talk about their household and community. You can ask anything you like -- and we'll even help you prepare for the phone call! Together, you and the family will decide if this match will work out.
  5. Visa and Travel Arrangements
    Once you've decided on your host family, we will send you the visa and insurance information and take care of your flight arrangements. We'll provide additional information about extended insurance, special offers and optional flight departures.
  6. Au Pair in America - Orientation Program
    Find out what being an Au Pair is all about through an all expenses paid four-day childcare training at Au Pair school 1 hour from New York, in exciting Connecticut!
